About us

Who are we?

We are 5NA students from Jurongville Secondary School.

For this year's Values - In - Actions (VIA) project, we are organising a community run as part of our service learning project.

what is 'Run for Warriors' about?

Who are our warriors?

Our warriors are none other than our Migrant Workers. It has not been an easy journey for them. Migrant workers have to leave their homes, loved ones in order to come to Singapore and work, to have a better income. Without complaints, these warriors work tirelessly in the hot and rainy weather of Singapore. Though they may not have a high pay, they sacrifice their safety to help Singapore build its infrastructure, such as our roads, buildings etc. Most times, migrant workers may suffer. Poor accommodation and meals may be given to migrant workers. Sometimes, they can be ill-treated by their employer but they are just suffering quietly. Injured migrant workers who require assistance may not have things worked out for them. For example, their employer did not provide them with compensation and do not allow them to return home. They played a great part in building Singapore to what it is today. It is very important for us to appreciate for all the things that they have done for us.

Run For Warriors is a meaningful event which acts as a platform for the community to show appreciation for the hard work done by our migrant workers. The community can contribute to this initiative by doing a 5 km walk/jog/run, along with pledging and donating items which can help with the daily living of the migrant workers. It is also our aim to spread awareness about migrant workers to the community.
